REDLINE

I thought I'ld post this for anyone that might be interested as I have never seen anyone bring this 38-40 offering up yet.

You can get info and order them here;  http://www.customsixguns.com/sixguns.htm

They call it the;  .38-40 Ruger Bisley and it comes with a Jerry Halfrich custom knife.

They say;
Oversize six-shot cylinder with minimum dimension chambers and throats, 6 1/2 inch barrel, Bowen rear sight, and semi-Patridge front sight.  Fancy walnut grips by Dustin Linebaugh.  Custom knife by Jerry Halfrich.

180gr XTP to 1800 FPS - 18 KO
200gr XTP to 1600 FPS - 18 KO

.38-40 CONVERSION

The .38-40 is another "old" cartridge much misunderstood - like the .45 Colt - that can be "woken up" in a strong and modern gun. We had Dave Manson grind properly dimensioned minimum reamers to cut properly sized tight chambers for additional strength and safety. Oversized six shot cylinders are fitted behind a properly dimensioned barrel. Bisley parts are recommended for best shooting control along with Linebaugh Custom Grips.

Many will claim, as they did with the .45 Colt, that the case is weak and will not handle the high pressures. More than twenty years of steady use in our custom revolvers has proven the .45 Colt is amply safe to any reasonable pressure. The 38-40 is an excellent choice for a light game cartridge without the heavy recoil.

Conversion in blue: $2,400.00

Conversion in stainless: $2,700.00

STANDARD FEATURES
To date we have built over 1000 custom sixguns and our products at this time are the best yet. Each sixgun is completely rebuilt throughout. Metal work is standard. Heavy duty Wolff mainsprings are used in every gun. Every action is tightened, aligned, and blocked. Trigger pulls adjusted to minimum amount of creep and let off with insured safety. Grips recontoured and base pin set screw standard in each model. Front sight squared and thinned to 1/10" width. A steel ejector rod housing with checkered ejector rod button is also included. All models have free wheel loading system. This means the cylinder will rotate in either direction silently. Deep blue finish. All Linebaugh sixguns carry a lifetime guarantee.

We are a sixgun shop dedicated to the serious old school sixgunner. Our theories follow those of Elmer Keith and John (Pondora) Taylor of African Fame which was major caliber and simplicity. We do not believe in gimmicks or gadgets. Just the man and his gun working together. We believe in big bore sixguns because the only constants we have in external ballistics are bullet weight and caliber. Velocity is a constantly diminishing variable. A sixgun simply cannot generate enough velocity to shock animals down like the big rifles can. A sixgun is a long-range punch press. The bigger the caliber and the heavier the slug the deeper and bigger the hole we can punch in our target.

We work on a first come, first serve basis. To order, send gun and minimum 30% deposit with your completed order form. Please send complete gun, order form, and deposit all together in the same box. Once work has been started on your project, Linebaugh Custom Sixguns considers it a binding contract with balance payment in full expected immediately upon completion. This is a small and dedicated shop under a heavy workload. Your understanding and patience will do much to ensure our sanity.

Shipping Instructions: UPS and/or FedEx are both excellent carriers. Any conversion is considered a "repair" and no registration is required. We can return your finished gun directly to you legally via the same carriers. Do not use parcel post.

Old parts: All unused parts are customer's property. They will be returned to the customer upon request. Please write: "Return parts (yes or no)" on order form. They will not fit back into your new conversion. If customer does not want the parts returned they will become the property of Linebaugh Custom Sixguns.

To date, we have inspected several of our early model guns that have seen a large amount of shooting with heavy loads.  These guns have held up very well and we fully expect our large caliber conversions to last as long as standard caliber big bore revolvers. Abuse, not use wears out good sixguns.

All New Model Ruger Revolvers manufactured since 1973 in major caliber (357 - 41 - 44 - 45) are identical in frame and components. The Bisley model is the same frame, with a much improved grip frame, hammer, and trigger. We use the Bisley exclusively due to its superior grip shape. The Bisley handles the heavy recoil our guns generate much better in all instances.

You can do different grip options too, like Bighorn Sheep Ram Horn and Real Ivory.

Anyway, thought some of you would be seriously interested so thought I'ld share the info after coming across it.  Heavy .38-40 loads should be a dream to shoot from an overbuilt and customized platform like that! 8)  1600 FPS with a 200gr XTP isn't too shabby!

Here's a link for more info on the Jerry Halfrich custom knives like which are included with the purchase of the gun - http://www.halfrichknives.com/index.html
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
