While I haven't gotten into the AR platform, I am leaning toward the AR10 chambered in .308 Winchester.

The .223/.224 AR15 does look like the cheapest for shooting and handloading standpoint.  Less powder, cheaper bullets, plenty brass available.

Just haven't pulled the trigger on this project yet!   :-\   ???

When you do, build your own.  You will thoroughly enjoy the project, and end up with a well made rifle you know inside and out.  If I can do it, anyone can.

Well not exactly about cheap, I have been waffling between getting a .308 AR or the 10 mm AR.
Since I have been strictly a pistol guy. I sure could use some coaching from some of you rifle guys out there

Look into a Mechtech Conversion kit to make your 10mm pistol a carbine. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a 10mm AR.

Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Well, I guess more like $450 by the time you trade out the New Frontier Poly lower.  Not a quality lower.

All the problems I've seen th the range with people with AR's, I got a Saiga .223 with an AK47 type action instead. Bet I can clean mine out about 50-75% faster than an AR owner. I shoot any old milsurp or reload out of it, it don't care. Was accurate enough when I put a scope on it to pop balloons tied out 200-250 yards.
