Stopped by my LGS today and he told me my GP P40 10mm had arrived. It was pretty coated in shipping grease, but I had to fondle it a bit. It feels really good in the hand and the trigger seems really good. I won't be able to get it out of detention for a week or two, but then I plan to get some shooting done. On a side note I emailed the factory in Slovakia and they said the 10mm is running the same 14# recoil spring as the .40 S&W. I'll wait and see how it shoots before I worry about changing anything.

No pictures?

You touched a unicorn and didn't treat us to pictures? :o :P

SavageOne

My bad. Honestly I didn't even think of it. I was so pumped to have gotten one I may not have been thinking clearly. When I get it home and cleaned up I'll get some photos posted.

SavageOne

I have to say I was very impressed with how well it felt in my hand. The grip did not feel like a double stack. I am really looking forward to getting some rounds through it. Let's just hope the weather cooperates after I get it home.

Really?

I heard after Shot Show... how did you score one already? Have you been following my 9mm trial?

The first release is the 4.25"? They feel like a Witness in many ways really.

Intercooler

Oh man. Did you check it before you left? You could have just a .40 and not the 10mm. I can't find any word about any of them being out yet and from what I read you would need to specify caliber when ordering.

SavageOne

Yeah, it's the 10mm. I heard a that an order had come in, of 15, and had my LGS contact Eagle. Eagle said they had sent out 8 to the distributors(Acusport) and still had 4 at their warehouse. I had my LGS to order one and it took a little over a week to get to him. It does feel a lot like the Witness. No idea when the L's will make it through the BATFE runaround.

Intercooler

So who would we contact to order one and how much are they?

Do you have a selection of 10mm ammos to run through it? It would be good to see if it runs Underwood okay. If it has the Red spring like my 9mm version, that should suffice pretty good I think.

SavageOne

I don't have any Underwood and my selection of factory is pretty poor, true load wise. I'll just have to find what I can and try it. The price was comparable to the .40,
$700ish. I have to give it up for the staff at Eagle Imports. They were very helpful with my LGS letting him know which distributors had them. I believe my LGS used Acusport. To the best of my knowledge I got the first one from Acusport and they still had 7 left last week.

SavageOne

As to the spring. I didn't get to tear it down to check, but as I stated according to the guys in Slovakia it is using the same 6.5kg spring as the .40cal, so that's a 14# spring.

SavageOne

I am just going from converting 6.5kg to pounds, that's 14.33#. But, as always, I will bow to your more extensive knowledge and familiarity with 10's.

SavageOne

I will say the only thing I didn't like was the paddle of the thumb safety. It's almost no existent. I am hoping I can swap it out with one like the one on they Xcaliber. It seems to be more robust. Still, I need to shoot the gun, before I start deciding what is wrong with it and what I want to change.

Intercooler

For sure shoot it some first.  I initially thought the same about the safety and now I kind of like it. It's cheap enough to get the extended safety to have just in case.

You know what they say about threads without pics... lol
