Securing your carry weapon in a vehicle

Question on securing your carry weapon in a vehicle, say, when your at work. Would locking your pistol in the glovebox it be considered  irresponsible unattended storage? I do have a tethered lock box that goes under the passenger seat, but would likely be as easy, or possibly easier to remove / pry open as  busting open the glovebox? thoughts...
Thanks

I have a nano-vault secured in my vehicle with a cable tether. I never put anything in it. If I have to secure a gun I have an almost unnoticeable spot in my console. I leave the nano-vault partially sticking out from under the seat. It's just bait.

Lol, there are a lot nicer vehicles to break into in our work lot than my (older than many : ) car, just trying to determine if a locked glovebox in a locked car was secure enough for the average scrutinization.

With enough time, tools and determination neither is going to stop a determined thief.  All either of them are is to is offer a modicum of defense against a smash and grab job...  Maybe deter a kid or run of the mill crack head.

However, if your going to carry its a situation you'll face.
I have on a few occasions, for as short a span of time as possible locked a weapon in the glove box.
Most of the time, when necessary I rely on lockable safe & steel tether.  It's as responsible, reasonable and prudent as I judge realistic.  YMMV.....  As well as the laws in your area.

When you consider it, a glovebox can pried open in short order, and cutting a tether would even be easier. Considering the large amount of really nice vehicles that park in our parking ramp, and the security guard kid driving the ramp, it's not likely an issue. I just want to be as responsible as possible
Thanks folks!

Ken,
I think that we all agree that there varying degrees of security. One could make the argument that the more that you spend the more that you get.
The question of "is it enough" has too many variables to give a solid, un-arguable answer.

My opinion is that there is only soo much we can do.

If your only intent is "responsible" storage, I would argue that you would be better off getting the lockbox.
A cars glovebox is just a normal location with no specific intent, other than to be a catchall. Something that in all honesty wouldn't need anything more than a pair of hands to defeat.
A lockbox, especially 1 that is marketed as a specific lockbox for firearms, would demonstrate an intent to go beyond the norm and specifically secure your firearm. And IMHO, would need actual tools to defeat or steal.

If you have a car, then they have some other options available. I got one of their console vaults and it fits inside the consoles of trucks and SUV's and is hidden by the console lid.
