If i ever find a cheap .40 (under 100 used one) i will ream it to 10mm. Usually find 9mm ones all the time in the 75 to 100 range. No way am i paying retail for a new one of these pieces of junk.. yeah i have owned one and had it completely apart... quality they are not. They are uglier than a mud fence and my stepsister but they seem to be reliable.

So, you dont like them,.. They are ugly,.. They work,.. AND YOU WANT ONE,. ROFL,..

Just dont want buddies to see her in the safe huh?,..   SCREW WHAT OTHERS THINK I SAY, its my gun, if i like "X" gun, i like it. I get a kick out of the implied Hi-Point taboo silliness.

Matter of fact~ i'll gladly discuss (LOL) buying any and all Hi-Points from members here/ ANY HI-POINT. (But remember/ they are "undesirable junk", so lets keep that in mind)   ;)

Never said I wanted one jackass. But I would buy a real cheap one to ream just to see what it takes to make it work. They are pretty much junk, other wise they would retain value. They come right out and say it or at least to that you shouldn't shoot them a lot because they wear out fast, wording to effect was in the manuals to the pistols at one time. May still be.

:))
Can you see the humor in your reply?, while calling me a jack ass, but doubling down on wanting one.. While still claiming they are crap..   ROFL

Dont get worked up man, ITS OK~ NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW YOU WILL OWN IT.

Gun snobbery peer pressure is a very strong thing~ i get it!

(Back up and read the posts~ the fact that you replied the way you did is funny, while illustrating my point. Its all good man/ so what, you want one,.. Big deal. Hell i like thicker girls too)

Never said I wanted one, I have been a fabricator and mechanic most my life.. I like seeing what it takes to make things work and especially after mods to improve or repurpose them .
No, I don't like somebody attempting humor by twisting what I said around.

It would be interesting to view an R&D from someone actually in the process of the conversion. The carbine them guys have has little to no detail on what they did~ specifically that is. Be fun to follow.

THAT is why I joined this thread. Eventually I will do mine, but it will be in a few years at best.

If people really don't like a certain brand why the heck would you a join a thread just to carp about that brand? Grow the hell up.

I'll stick with my Mechtech in 10mm.

How much did that bad boy cost?
I have my 10mm AR SBR.
I  don't like HiPoint pistols for many of the reasons mentioned but carbine is an excellent value.

I've seen the basic conversions on Gunbroker for around $400. I had it from the factory with a few bells and whistles put on, it ended up about $750.

Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Funny you posted that, i was just geeking google images for these doo-dadders.. Kinda pricey for a poor boy like me  :))

I'll enable ya! This thing is F-U-N. Good thing I reload because I am sure going through some ammo with it.

I bought a new Hi Point 45 when they first came out. It fired all kinds of ammo with no problems.

I bought a used one on Gunbroker & it FTE. I sent it to Hi Point, they found 2 springs reversed, shipped back to me & it also fires different ammo with no problems.

They honored the lifetime warranty & I'm a happy Hi Point gun owner.

My biggest problem was the unwieldy grip and my small short fingered hand., that forced me to hold it up way high and caused it to bite me from the slide whacking my hand. They just don't fit me. The other problems may have been fixable, but if it hurt me just to fire it I did all right by giving to my little bro who had bigger hands.

I was suprised to hear a previous poster had problems with the slide hurting his hand.  I have extremely large hands (I wear XXXL gloves, size15 ring finger, and 10" finger reach).  I had a S&W SD40, I had to get rid of because of the small grip.  The HiPoint JCP40 fits my hand like a glove.  No problems with my hands at all.

The thing that bothers me the most, when people start criticising Hi Points, is that they are ignoring basic gun fundamentals. Hi Points are blow back operating firearms, not the more popular recoil operating style. Do they have large heavy slides? Yes, they have to since it is the slide weight that is holding the gun in battery. To compare a Hi Point to other firearms that use a different operating system is the definition of comparing apples to oranges.

I watched a video from TFB at SHOT show this year, were the TFB correspondent had to eat crow about bad mouthing Hi Point. I applaud him for having the character to do so, but another thing stood out to me. The Hi Point rep just stood there and graciously accepted the apology, he even mentioned something to effect of " you get use to it when you're Hi Point". What I couldn't get over was asking, why should they have to get use to it? Hi Point puts out a quality product, for what it is, why should they have to get use to "gun" people being uninformed of the facts about it? Why should Hi Point have to get use to the criticism that springs from that ignorance? On top of graciously putting up with it, they offer a lifetime warranty and fix the guns so many are disparaging.

I think people should be applauding an American company with that kind of commitment. Sorry for the rant, it just rubbed me wrong reading some of the posts ::)
